[D2, EA] Imperial Court, Part 1 (Open, Event)

[Shiba]

Shiba sits on the dais, toward the front to me easily be able to speak to anyone who approaches with business for him. The Kami has a certain glow about him, and a small smile rests on his lips. His court hovers near to deal with smaller issues. Tea and snacks are set out as well for people who want to discuss business with one another or simply socialize.

[Ryoshun Rei]

Rei arrives, curious about what matters may be brought before the Emperor. From how it had been described to her, court didn't sound very entertaining, but it was one of many things she would need to learn about. She offered a respectful bow to her uncle and his court and found an appropriate place to sit.

[Jiyo Sora]

Sora was there,of course.

Once again he entered the Emperor's presence, and once again, he knelt to Shiba rather than bowing in the accustomed manner.

But he didn't appear to have any business as such.

However, mindful of his conversation the day before, he spotted the heir of the Bat and approached her in a somewhat circuitous fashion.

[Miyako Masato]

Masato slowly makes his way towards the emperor and offers his deepest bow. It takes him a moment to gracefully recover, after which the Scorpion makes his way towards comfortable seating.

He makes a note of the drink and snacks for later and waits patiently.

[Kakita]

Kakita attended the court beside his charge but as he saw Jiyo Sora meander his way over near her he figured it best if he found a different spot to watch the proceedings from... so as not to dampen the mood. It appeared Sora did not care for him much and he didn't wish for that to inform conditions negatively for Rei.

[Yuzuru]

Delayed by the minutia of running the palace, Yuzuru arrives guided by Hsieh-Hsieh as always. Yuzuru seems rather calm for someone having unexpected guests up to the rafters with the weather preventing all departures. He reaches halfway across the room before he suddenly realises the warm furry contact with his left leg has stopped.

Five steps back the fox Hsieh-Hsieh has stopped mid step, with one paw in the air suspended. He's staring off into the audience . . . at a certain Scorpion samurai.

He doesn't look happy.

[Hantei Genji]

Genji arrived at court, dressed aprropriately, if not in an imaginative fashion. He paid his respects to his uncles, then moved away, observing the dbb snd flow.

[Isawa Kyosei]

Another approaches. Although his clothes seem to be of the finest reasonable cuts, they somehow seem to be dusty. Which seems odd, but to those that have seen him before, makes sense. He somehow seems to almost always be dusty.

He gives a great bow to the Emperor, one of the few Little Gods that has actually gained his respect. He starts to step back, then blinks, and steps forward, instead.

Lowering himself, he waits to be acknowledged.

[Jiyo Sora]

Sora Doth Tag you!

Having completed his approach, Sora bowed to the heir of the Bat.

"Ryoshun-san. It appears you'll be with us for the balance of the season."

[Ryoshun Rei]

"We planned for the possibility." she nodded. "And, I think the weather has confirmed it. At least I'll be in good company, Jiyo-san."

[Makime Ayano]

Ayano was curious to see the Emperor hold court. Her mother's gatherings could better be called planning sessions then social gatherings.

She followed the example of others and bowed to the Emperor before moving off to the side. The Lion heiress was well dressed in a warm silk kimono.

Seems they would be here awhile. Perhaps it was the will of the gods.

[Akodo Daigoro]

The old man of the Lion delegation strode into the room and cast his eyes about the place. Recognizing the fox trouble about to ensue, the cagey old man pretends not to entertain any possibility that prior animus may exist between the esteemed Scorpion and the Consort's vulpine companion. Perhaps the Bayushi had cheated the fox at cards?

It was no matter, there were Emperors to show obeisance to, so that is what Daigoro did. He sidestepped the confrontation and bowed deeply to Shiba before taking a spot to the right side of the main aisle.

[Hisomu Fumi]

Fumi decided to attend. She sat off to the side charcoal and parchment at ready just in case. Besides getting to the fox, the affair seemed rather dull. Fumi would much rather be studying.

[Jiyo Sora]

"We planned for the possibility." she nodded. "And, I think the weather has confirmed it. At least I'll be in good company, Jiyo-san."

He half-smiled.

"You sure about that? I mean, I've been called many things, but very seldom have I been called particularly good company... would mind terribly if I asked after some business?"

[Miyako Masato]

Masato, enjoying the comfort of his seat, sweeps his gaze around the room. He regards each of the guests as they enter, admires the architecture of the place, the copious snacks, and a fox... staring right at him!

What is this beast doing here, and why is it staring at me?!

He finally notices Yuzuru nearby.

Ah... this must be who Kogi warned me about.

He clears his throat, but defers to the consort to initiate conversation; after all, it would be presumptuous to assume that he would deign to talk to Masato. Still, the stare of the fox was certainly discomforting, making the wait all the more tense.

[Yuzuru]

Yuzuru however was unaware of exactly what was happening.

"Hsieh-Hsieh, heel."

The fox growled, took four or five steps towards his master, but was still staring at Masato. A stare of hatred.

. . . and then he walked into the back of Yuzuru's legs with a small yip of surprise.

"Hsieh-Hsieh . . . I'm blind, not you. Put your mind to your tasks or I'll have to start training one of your cousins from the gardens a little earlier than expected."

The fox growled grumpily but guided Yuzuru to his place beside Shiba.

Masato had apparently escaped for now . . . but wherever he went in the courtroom, angry judgmental vulpine eyes were on him.

[Shiba]

Shiba nodded gently to him. "Kyosei of the Isawa Family. You are welcome. What brings you before me?"

[Isawa Kyosei]

"Greetings Emperor of this land. This one was conversing with another of your servants on the previous evening, and a thought occurred. While most prefer to live within this Empire you have lead, some do not. They leave, often heading to the north. For single persons, well, what matter is that? But this one has also heard tell of entire, if small, tribes heading that way. This one has heard not of what your Rulings might be about this, and wished clarification on how we should react to them. Should we assist them? Prevent them from heading out? Other?"

[Miyako Masato]

Masato gives quiet sigh of relief as the fox departs from his presence. He looked back at the snacks wondering if there was anything stronger than tea to calm his nerves.

I might have to do something about that creature. It seemed almost intelligent... perhaps it can be reasoned with?

[Saru Yatsufusa]

Of course the young dragon appeared in court after all. It was the first time he is experience this type of event, but he was confident that his sensei had trained him well to not cause an embarrasment to him, his family and clan.

Yatsu noticed that the Imperial Consort brought a small. He knew that he was from the Ayakashi family, much like him. Maybe both were distant family to some degree, and he was happy that the tribe still lived on and that their ways were so close to the Son of Heavens.

For now, the young dragon waits. He has a petition for the Son of Heavens, but he would listen first of what the rest of the clans and petitioners had to ask and discuss.
