[EA, D7] Imperial Court, Part 4

[Canary]

Shiba sits on the dais, toward the front to more easily be able to speak to anyone who approaches with business for him. His court hovers near to deal with smaller issues. Tea and snacks are set out as well for people who want to discuss business with one another or simply socialize.

[Jiyo Sora]

As always, Sora attended court.

And as always, he knelt to Shiba before rising to make his rounds.

[Bayushi Sasori]

Another day, here in court. Sasori just takes a seat to watch the show.

[Otomo Gusai]

Gusai, after bowing in, takes a seat next to her.

He nods his head to her as he does so.

[Bayushi Sasori]

She looked at Gusai and nodded. "Otomo sama, how are you today?"

[Otomo Gusai]

"Well, Bayushi-san," he replies smoothly, "if perhaps still surprised about the past evenings."

His eye falls upon her fully. "But I will still do what I can about your father."

[Hisomu Susumu]

Susumu had been away from court a few days but returns bright and early, picking a spot with a few seats nearby but not occupying any.

[Hantei Genji]

Genji was there!

[Bayushi Sasori]

"Well, Bayushi-san," he replies smoothly, "if perhaps still surprised about the past evenings."

His eye falls upon her fully. "But I will still do what I can about your father."

"Why? I told you the truth." She took out her fan and fanned herself. He would note a bit of coldness in her voice, not the happy girl he knows. "I thank you for trying."

He bows his head to her again, lower, emphasizing his sincerity with his posture no less than his voice (26).

[Yuzuru]

Yuzuru is preceded into the room by his fox as usual. The only change to his self today is a lack of blindfold. Some would know he does this occasionally, but for most this would be their first sight of the completely white eyes of the Imperial Consort.

[Nozomi]

Nozomi bowed low to the dais on entering and moved to her customary spot, daughter in tow. Mayumi was entirely calm today. But having practiced a bit in meditation earlier, perhaps it was just the freshness of the lesson. For the moment, other than possibly hearing Shiba's ruling on yesterday's business, she intended to remain as much in the background as she possibly could.

Nozomi was beginning to loathe court, honestly, and prayed the snow would be gone soon.

Kuu was present, wondering if there would be an answer for the question of the placement of monks in the Celestial Order. He sat quietly and observed for now.

[Otomo Gusai]

"I had a bad day yesterday. I needed to escape." She sighed. "This one is not offended just hurt."

"To hurt you was never my intent," Gusai replies, head still bowed. "Again, I apologize for having done it."

[Bayushi Sasori]

Sasori shook her head. "Do not worry Otomo sama for this one's pain is not your fault. It is this one's fault. I apologize for any inconvenience that this one may have caused."

[Shiba]

"Kuu-san, Nozomi-san. I am glad you could make it. I have put thought into where your order and monks more broadly fit in the Celestial Order."

"The Celestial Order as it exists within the Heavens is not a straight line. For instance, the Dragons answer to Amaterasu to some degree, but have a great deal of leeway to enact their duties as they see fit, and are not at all beholden to the Kami. They maintain their own practices and heirarchy. I see wisdom in applying a similar approach to the monks of Rokugan. They will exist under the auspices of the Child of Heaven, given that I and the Emperors that follow after me are Ningen-do's connection to Tengoku, but not in the same direct line of hierarchy as samurai and those who trade goods and work the land. They will be recognized and respected to the same degree one would a samurai, but allowed to go about their activities with minimal interference and without being beholden to the Clans - with the exception of orders formed within the Clans specifically, such as the Togashi."

"I will issue a full proclamation with the details of the implications of this decision soon."

[Jiyo Sora]

Sora didn't say anything... But he did walk up beside Nozomi so that he could once again kneel to the Emperor.

[Doji Tsubaki]

Tsubaki, ever present and becrowned, raises an eyebrow slightly at the pronouncement.

Well that's one way to form a spy network....
