While some humans are trained... (D6 EM - Observation Thread)

The Vulpine Parade is confused and wary for a little while, until Hsieh-Hsieh growls a little at them and they start paying attention to the human. Fish also being a motivator. Who doesn't like a good fish? The dried fish disappears rapidly.

Despite the spot not being perfect and the foxes being very inexperienced fishers, they try their best. End result is two fish, one very wet fox, four slightly damp foxes, one still dry fox and an Imperial Vulpine watching on having not taken part at all.

The Ki-rin seems to be having great fun trying to help organise the Parade in their efforts, and she's happy to see at least some result from their efforts. With the end result being two fish for all of them, she seems slightly worried, though. She's quick to show them the fish are actually meant for themselves - hoping they'll share their bounty with the Imperial Fox, of course... but soon she kneels to the Imperial fox (and actually to the others as well), showing some gestures of appreciation with a wide smile on her face, then speaks to them again. "Well, I'll be back soon!"

She then leaves the garden for some time, half-running...

Hsieh-Hsieh knew that face. The human had a plan and it involved food. The small Parade of younger, smaller foxes got a good growling at as he explained things.

The Parade however seemed to be having enjoying making fun of the poor wet fox who had fallen in and was shaking vigorously to try and dry off.

The human had a plan indeed. A very fishy plan.

A few minutes later, she returned, again half-running, with a fishing net and a fishing rod. Gesturing to the foxy entourage, she makes her way through the pond to the place where they had been fishing and, after using her spear to widen the hole in the ice a bit, she gets to work - hopefully watched or accompanied by the vulpine crew.

She first stirs the water a bit with her spear, then casts her net, trying to position it so it would trap fish attracted by the stirring. It... doesn't work as well as she hoped, but when she pulls it back after some ten minutes or so there is at least a half-decent catch, which, after releasing from the mesh, she happily gathers and places in front of Hsieh-hsieh with a bow. "Here, Hsieh-hsieh-sama! This... is something", she says. Looking at the other foxes, she feels she probably hasn't quite lived up to their expectations.

So this time she takes up the rod, fixes it on a cranny carefully made on the ice with the tip of her spear, and, looking from time to time at the foxes, then at the now many people training with their chosen animals, she waits.

From time to time, she pulls the line, and produces another fish. When she does, she says a quick prayer to the spirits of the lake, then tosses it to the vulpine crew. Maybe she'll even have something for the other hard-working furry ones at the end of the competition!

There had been the beginnings of a squabble over the meagre two fish the foxes had acquired for themselves until Hsieh-Hsieh ended that by eating them himself.

When Kotsume started fishing herself, the Parade watched from a distance before edging closer and closer when they detected no threat, helped by the Imperial Fox being so calm around these humans. Once the fish were supplied the vulpine free for all eating fest began.

Kotsume left the rod unattended now and then when going back to the makeshift stage to watch people's presentations as they got ready for them, but then quickly got back for some more fishing. She was happy to see the foxes more at ease, and even happier to see them eating happily.

She made sure to keep some of the fish for the otters and for Yukiashi, but most of the bounty was offered to Hsieh-hsieh and his friends. It was only when the time came to join the other organisers to present the winners - or when the foxes finally felt they'd had enough - that she finally stopped fishing... for now, at least!

Seven foxes can eat quite a lot, but even they became full in time. When there was more playing and growling at each other than eating, Hsieh-Hsieh stepped forward and nudged Kotsume with his nose and then nudged the rod away from the water with his snout.

Having watched the award ceremony, Sasori sighted and took her leave.
