Day 5 EM: Golden breakfast

[Wu Zhe]

''It is my pleasure to give as much knowledge as I can on the pieces. We might not be as skilled as our neighbor but we but our hearts in what we do''

[Doji Misaki]

"Heart is more important than skill, most of the time. Just like inspiration."

Misaki put the ring away again gingerly, "I do a lot of crafting myself, metalwork included, but I've not worked with gold much, or making jewelry. But I think I have a good judge of the heart that was put into the piece, and it is most appreciated."

Put away, she turns back to the provided meal, "Enough about that though. Was there anything you wished to talk about yourself, Wu-sama?"

[Wu Zhe]

''About myself?'' he was confused ''I am not sure there is much to talk about I am afraid...I am a fairly simple man. I doubt I would make an interesting subject of conversation to any one.''

He shrugged awkwardly

''But if you have further questions...go ahead.''

[Doji Misaki]

"A simple man? Are the rumors not true about your being the child of a tribal chief then? I am not usually one for rumors, but I'd let them inform me at to your importance to the Dragon delegation and such certainly, Wu-sama."

[Wu Zhe]

There was a slight crease in Zhe's frown but he did not see the use in denial

''I am indeed the child of a tribal chieftain...What of it?''

[Doji Misaki]

"There is nothing of it, apart from your statement about yourself. Do you not put much stock into your status and position then, Wu-sama? I merely ask because I am curious, not out of any sort of judgment."

[Wu Zhe]

He arched an eyebrow

''I do not put stock into titles or status if it is not earned and keeps being earned. I have been granted this position because it was believed I could do good work like the one I do back home...if I am unfit then I will just go back to my family's farm.''

[Doji Misaki]

"And if you are fit? You seem the sort who would be more comfortable on a family farm than off of it, unless I'm very much mistaken."

[Wu Zhe]

''Comfort can be gained but it is better that I not'' he replied ''Hard work is uncomfortable but rewarding in the end''

[Doji Misaki]

Misaki's soft smile came back, "Then it seems you and I are of the same mind on that."

She picked up some breakfast with her chopsticks, chewing thoughtfully, "...you certainly do know your way around produce too, I must say."

[Wu Zhe]

''Thank you Doji-san. I have benefited greatly from the knowledge of the exiled tribespeople that came to settle in our land as well a those who were there for generations.''

He begins to eat himself

''But it is our cheese I am most proud of''

[Doji Misaki]

"Oh? And here I passed up a chance to have some; Had I been aware it was a work you were passionate about, I might not have passed it up. I just wasn't sure what I would do with so much food I'm afraid and did not know the context."

[Wu Zhe]

''There were cheese in a good number of dishes'' he pointed out ''If you don't like it you should not force yourself''

[Doji Misaki]

"I did notice that actually, hai! I don't see much cheese in central Crane provinces cuisine, but it isn't as if I dislike it in the slightest. If I eat too much of it, it disagrees with my stomach I'm afraid, but the same is true for a couple of things. I fear I just have a sensitive stomach as such."

[Wu Zhe]

''Some foods are like that...if you did not grow up with it you body is not acclimated.''

[Doji Misaki]

A small nod, "I have heard that. And certainly, growing up, my diet was fairly homogenous; Not traveling much and not much trade can do that I think."

[Wu Zhe]

''Immigration from the south made things different for us.'' there was a certain inflection on the word immigration 'The valley inhabitants had various traditions but the arrival of so many people brought a lot of unexpected diversity.''

[Doji Misaki]

If she heard the inflection, Misaki certainly decided not to comment on it, continuing with the simple meal.

"Perhaps one day the Imperial Capital here will be a place of very diverse cuisine, tastes, and ways of thinking as well. I am almost jealous to those who come later that may see such a day."

[Wu Zhe]

''It would certainly be a good thing...alas diversity is unwelcomed by many''

[Doji Misaki]

"It is? ...hm. Well, if nothing else, this winter gathering seems to be a good start. Welcoming those from all over and being open to showing off various events and art styles and cuisines. Not to mention being willing to host a Nezumi and monks and everything. It's quite remarkable in a way."
