According to the Imperial Archives, most of the "young ones" of today are actually about the same age as most followers of the Kami were when they met the gods of the first time and entered the legend. For example, Kinsen was 17 at the time.

(weirdly, according to the same archive, Sora was 21, while testimonies point out at him being a much older old man; either people have him confused with Yamadono or he was already old at heart then)

Old man Sora has always been an old fart. His body just caught up to the fact recently.

I think I can quite honestly say that Togashi, Saruko, and their kids (adult and not) don't really have servants? ^_^; Birb can always say otherwise, but doesn't strike me as something either of them would do.
