Upcoming Game: Tales of the Jewel - A Fest of Arrows
Posted: Thu Apr 15, 2021 11:49 pm
For those not on the discord - as a placeholder for those not playing in Kamda (or who wish to juggle games) I will be running a minigame set in the Legend of the Burning Sands while we await our glorious Birb overlord's game to start.
The game will be 55 XP to start
I honestly recommend against making archery focused characters since weapons of war are outlawed within the city without Khadi permission and it may actually make them less fun to reprise later even if they 'win' this one. For competitors general warriors or dabblers are recommended.
One of the archery rounds will be mounted.
There will be non-archery events for observers/general public.
There will be an option for wealthy/courtly types to sponsor NPC archers. (Which will be the only NPC competitors)
Game will take place over five in-game days at three real life days each. A 'Session' will count as three in-game days so two sessions.
Actual start date will be dependent on board setup so cannot be announced just yet.
"In the name of Lady Sun - the All-Merciful, the All-Knowing, and Life-Giving Lady Sun - I tell my tale. And my tale is true. As true as any other tale that has ever been told.
It was the dawning of the twelth century. An age of turmoil, triumph, and tradgedy. Empires would fall, heroes would rise, and gods would die.
But that was yet to come, merely omens and echoes not yet recognized in full, as we set our scene.
Our tales weave their way around and through the great city, the heart of the known world, Medinaat al-Salaam. A grand metropolis defined by contradictions. A shining jewel in the desert. A beacon of wealth and hope. A den of corruption cloaked in fear and oppression under the fist of an undying tyrant. Medinaat al-Salaam was all of this and more for it was the City of One Thousand Stories and played a different role in each and every one.
In those days, in that place, do our tales begin...."
This will be a 4E L5R adapted LBS game using the conversion and Volsung and Co's homebrew rules with some slight modifications. The year is 1100 and Majdala al-Rashid, Khadi Delegate to House Menjari, has taken up a fascination with the art of archery and when a being as powerful, and as rich, finds an interest it spreads quickly among the people seeking to make an impression. Despite the laws preventing weapons of war from being carried within the city archery has become the latest fad and, to further her pleasure, Majdala has decreed that there be a festival and tournament to celebrate the sport - offering a personal boon to the victor. With such a prize on the line citizens scramble to prepare to enter and the wealthy and powerful choose their champions.
