Ghost Tribe Curry
Early in the days of their exodus the peoples that would become the Ghost Tribe raided coastal villages and they found a tribe that had contact with the peoples beyond and discovered what would become the spicy dish called curry but in the old days was called kaeng and made from a paste and flavored with aromatic spices and often eaten with seafood but as they moved through the lands they often replaced that with vegetables, bamboo, and lamb meat, sometimes chicken.
The dish is spicy and although limited to the Nanzi it has spread throughout the Crane and been introduced to the Stag, though it is unclear how much they make the dish a part of their daily meals. Though the more common variety is often thin and broth-like, those preferred among the samurai tend to be thicker but this is not always the case.
The current curry made among the Crane tends to be heavy on vegetables and spice, though the Nanzi utilize seafood or fowl, and on some occasions they utilize lamb or beef, though most follow the fashion of Lady Doji with minimal meat and more vegetables, but it varies. Coastal territories tend to use more seafood and are often milder, sometimes even substituting coconut milk into the broth instead of water. More inland territories tend to utilize more vegetables and meat and often tend to be spicier but the difference is probably more recognizable to the Crane while to most outsiders, it is just the spicy but tasty dish they serve in their courts.
As rice spreads more into the daily diet, curry and rice tends to be the major staple for Crane households of means, but otherwise they tend to have it with at least one meal and many regions specialize in various versions of chilis to use in the kaeng paste, or curry paste.
