Sasori looked at the different people making art.

Sweat dripped from the forehead of Sagara while she took a break from her work. Her hands felt rough as she touched the palms. The callouses of her hands were already old from her usual activities: heavy weapons, sculpting... sometimes she looked more like a bushi than a shugenja.

Gusai smiles to see the two women there, and he bows, saying to both "It's a pleasure to see such an event, Bayushi-san--and your work, Anjing-san! I hope I'm worthy to stand alongside it."

"Otomo sama good to see you." She smiled behind her fan.

Gusai nods. "And good to be seen, truly."

She moved to his ear. "I can teach you... if Otomo sama would like." She smiled. "Mother was a hunter before she started developing her dojo."

She nodded. "It would be an honor."

"It is excellent work, really," Gusai says to Sagara. "I'll admit that I don't do a lot with stone, generally, but I can recognize good work when I see it."

He grins.

"Sumimasen, Otomo Gusai-sama, it is actually a hobby of mine, something that I do since I was little. When I grew in the southern mountains I used to carve the kami and fortunes of the temple that I used to take care of. Over time, I have learned a little more, but it cannot compare to your work, lord. Your art requires a grand view of the way that the ropes are going to connect, how they will form the final picture. Superb."

"If I have any skill," Gusai replies, "it is only through more practice than is likely good for me." He chuckles with a touch of self-deprecation. "And more time helps as well, as with," and here, he pulls out his knot from the day before, "this one."

It is a large knot, intricate and detailed, in the form of a mat decorated at intervals with little round ornamentals--something that would do well as an altar-cover, perhaps.

"The Stag have a tendency to prize material arts, as it happens."

"The Crab, too, prefer to offer the practical prizes as well. The weapon of the Kaiu are well known and are exceptional gifts that few have access too. Their armors and their craftsman skills are well known as well."

"Please join us, Bayushi Sasori-sama, at least as long as your hostess duties permit."

"Of course..." She offered Gusai some Sake as she served herself some water. "I remember mother talking about a Seppun sculptor. She met during the Kami tournament."

Gusai nods.

"He's an example many follow, certainly," he says.

"Kampai," he adds, and takes his sake.

Sagara finishes up the water and then offers her cup for a change in the liquid content.

"The family founders are inspiring examples to follow. On every clan, of course." She advocated with pride. "I learned the craft by the hand of my father actually. He always said I had a touch and could easily mold earth like none other in town. It was probably because of the gift as well, that allows me to speak to the kami also."
