Day 5 EM: Golden breakfast

[Wu Zhe]

''It is quite a fortunate event.'' he agreed once more ''We have traditions that could be seen as familiar in the north but not quite like this''

''It is my hope that we can institute something like this but with less politics and more education.''

[Doji Misaki]

"A sort of meeting of minds? A wonderful idea. Though do you see a lot of politics here this winter then? I suppose I have not exactly had my finger to the pulse of things in that manner."

[Wu Zhe]

''I do feel it the pressure, yes. People here do have an agenda.''

[Doji Misaki]

"I suppose that's true. I think that was true back in the tribal days too; A lot of people have goals and agendas and such that come out when people come together, power jockeying and the exchange of favors..."

[Wu Zhe]

''True...but it was different back then as it is different in our mountains.'' he frowned ''Things move faster now''

[Doji Misaki]

"I suppose Kakita lands were always a bit... different."

[Wu Zhe]

''How so?''

[Doji Misaki]

"Things were already fairly organized and stratified before the Kami came unlike some other tribes around them, sort of like the Seppun but unlike the Hikaru or Noriaki. I suppose things were all the more different thanks to the relative isolation at the time between much of what is now the Empire's lands."

[Wu Zhe]

''That much is true. The Wu family was not founded by a single tribe but by a band of warriors coming from across the lands...this brings quite a different perspective to societal organisation.''

[Doji Misaki]

"Where ever people come from though, I think there is a place for everyone in this new Empire. Hopefully at least. Certainly, those of us around right now will have a say in that, no?"

[Wu Zhe]

''Not everyone thinks the way you do. Surely you are aware that many are expelled from their ancestral lands at the tip of the sword?''

[Doji Misaki]

"Hai. Of course, to an extent, nothing can be for everyone; Those who do not wish to follow the Kami, those who wish to break the laws, or such. It's a sad thing, but I think that's part of the way of the world; If everyone could go to Yomi, it would be a happy world indeed. My only hope is that these things don't mean people can't at least live in peace; Violence, even necessary violence, is the most unclean and worst way to solve issues between people."

[Wu Zhe]

''Some would have been content to live in peace, Doji-san, but peace was not genuinely offered to many of them. If you say violence is the worst way to solve disputes then there are many bad starts all over.''

[Doji Misaki]

"All the more reason to improve things for the future."

Tea finished, she set down the cup.

[Wu Zhe]

''Forgetting failures will not help. Only truthful efforts will can do so''

[Doji Misaki]

"I agree. There is a difference between remembering and dwelling, but I suppose I have no reason to remind you of that."

[Wu Zhe]

''Scars not yet healed are hard not to be dwelt upon''

[Doji Misaki]

Misaki inclined her head, "I understand, and I for one will keep that in mind, Wu-sama. For now, thank you for the wonderful blessing of food and company; I promise I shall try some more cheese from your peoples' lands as I find them, and shall remember everything you've told me."

She stood gracefully before bowing deeply.

[Wu Zhe]

''I have no doubt'' he replied on an even tone ''I wish you a good morning and thank you for sharing a meal with me this morning''

[Doji Misaki]

"It was my honor, indeed."

The man had given her a bit to think about, certainly more than she had expected, and about different things.
