Is magic allowed?

Splashing blood everywhere and shouting for the Kami's help in the middle of the exam proper is a big no-no. However, there is no rule that says that you cannot cast spells before entering the room. Any spell with a duration of 1 hour or more is thus fine.

Can I cheat?

Sure. You can roll Forgery/Agility instead of any of the normal rolls (same TN) for the same benefit if you succeed, and instant disqualification if you fail. Honor losses from using a Low Skill do apply.

From the way the test is written, would the spell wisdom and clarity give some sort of benefit to the roll?

I guess that's the ultimate "checking your notes before the exam" spell, so it should. For the purpose of the event, let's say it grants 1 Free Raise to a Lore skill of the target's choice.

1 skill or can you get more with enough raises?

Actually, the first custom ruling was way too stringy compared to the kind of bonus lower rank Fire spells grant, so I've edited my post to up it a bit (replacing a +1k0 with a Free Raise basically)... But a bit too late. Sorry.

To avoid this becoming a balancing nightmare, I'll however rule that one Free Raise in total for the event is all the benefit that will be gotten from that particular spell.

Are we allowing instantaneous spells to heal right before we go in?
