Errata and Reminders

Post by Canary » Thu Mar 25, 2021 1:32 am

Skills
Iaijutsu
Add the "Strike" emphasis, which applies to the Iaijutsu/Reflexes roll made during the Strike phase of an Iaijutsu duel.

Medicine
The Antidote emphasis is required to treat poisons. The Disease emphasis is required to treat diseases. The Herbalism emphasis allows a character to make Medicine Skill Rolls without requiring the use of a Medicine Kit, provided that they have access to a medicinal garden or other well vegetated area. The Non-Human emphasis is required to treat members of races different from your own, and must be purchased separately for each such race.

Meditation
Characters may not Meditate in Event threads, and may not Meditate more than once per non-Event thread.

Ninjutsu
The Ninja-to may be used with either the Ninjutsu skill or the Kenjutsu skill.

Spellcraft
Characters may not Importune for spells during Event threads. Known spells as noted below in the Spells section are exempted from this.

Advantages
Advantage and disadvantage cost adjustments by Clan currently apply.

Allies
You may purchase allies at Influence 3 (not just 1, 2, and 4).

Dangerous Beauty
The bonus to Temptation provided by the Dangerous Beauty advantage applies regardless of gender or sexual preference.

Inheritance
If you take Inheritance (Iaijutsu), the bonus only applies to Iaijutsu rolls made during the Assessment and Focus phases, and not the Strike phase.

Multiple Schools
You do not need the Multiple Schools advantage to learn a ronin path. If you only possess Ronin paths, you do not need Multiple Schools to move from a ronin path to one of your Clan's schools.

Sage
The Sage advantage does not provide ranks in Lore skills that are gained through the Forbidden Lore advantages, which is Lying Darkness only in this setting.

Seven Fortunes' Blessing (Benten)
This advantage only applies to Courtier, Etiquette, and Sincerity Skill Rolls. This only applies when you are trying to convince someone.

Disadvantages
Consumed (Perfection)
Possessing no ranks in a skill does not prevent you from calling the Raise required by this disadvantage.

Contrary
The TN of the Willpower roll is always 20.

Touch of the Void
If you are spending a Void Point to enhance a roll of any type, you make the check to see whether or not you are Dazed before you make the enhanced roll.

Equipment
Arrows
When purchasing arrows for your character, change all prices in bu to zeni. Bows come with 20 arrows of the types listed on the Equipment page in Character Creation.

Jade
Jade which is consistently exposed to Shadowlands Taint, but not in the Shadowlands itself, wears down at a rate of 1/7 per week.

Shugenja and Spells
The Void Mystic does not have a limited spell range, nor do they need a verbal component for spells, as noted in the spell description. They do still need to deal wounds to themselves per Pure Blood Magic (IH pg. 37).

The Ronin Shugenja School may gains spells on increasing Insight Rank.

Pure Blood Magic does not use scrolls, since they are not making prayers to the Kami. Instead, the spells they know, they are functionally using blood to "fast importune" them. If characters have spent XP to memorize spells, they may get that refunded to spend on other things.

Mental Quickness
Change the spell's Area of Effect to "One target" and its text to the following: "The target's Intelligence Trait increases by 1 for the duration of the spell." Add the following: "Raises: Increase Intelligence (+1 per 2 Raises)."

Path to Inner Peace
If stored in a character with Silent Waters, this spell heals wounds equal to the Insight Rank of the caster (including affinities and deficiencies) multiplied by their Water Ring.

Silent Waters
Add this line: "The stored spell consumes one of your spell slots of the appropriate element until it is cast (at which point the character may rest to recover the expended spell slot as normal)."

Schools

The Tessen may replace War Fans in terms of both the skill, item, and Technique with another traditionally defensive weapon, such as the tonfa.

The Disciple of Sun Tao may replace Iaijutsu with another very specific skill. For example, they may use Battle or a specific Craft or Artisan skill (not Craft or Artisan as a category).

Any such changes should be run by GMs for approval before submitting your character.

Languages

We have new languages appearing, now, which means needing a way to show when someone is speaking them. Using another language is illustrated by using other colors in your speech text between the quotation marks.

When speaking the prevailing human language, do not change the color of the text.
Nezumi is denoted with Orange, Hex Code #FF8000
Rhuumal is denoted with Magenta Hex Code #BF0080

Here is an example to show how this works:

Post 1:
"Hey, that human is a jerk-jerk," Ratling A noted to the other rat.

Post 2:
"What was that, you furry bastard?" The human responded, hearing the tone but not able to interpret the noises, clicks, and squeaks from the rat.

Currency

While currency is still in the process of being established in the form players are familiar with, we will still be using it as an abstract representation of barter for the purposes of acquiring stuff.

Nezumi do have actual currency. Their coinage is similar enough to koku that is has been abstracted to that.
