He nodded, “That is why I travel here each day. To pray that the light which your grandmother grants will help disperse the darkness. Her light is eternal… and I strive to act as an extension of that light here on earth. It is incumbent upon me to be worthy and not lack in my focus.”

He smiled softly, “I’m sorry if I am not as charming or interesting as some… but we all must embrace that which we are duty-bound to become.”

[Doji Dojihime]

"You are who you are, there is no fault in that," she responded.

"Worthy of what, is this the destiny you spoke of in court?"

[Kakita]

He nodded slightly, “The darkness and light always continue their dance… Our side won a great victory due to the bravery of men and women like your father. But the conflict continues… And the darkness has its own subtle ways of weakening our resolve. I have trained to fight against this darkness. I only hope to be numbered among those who would fight for the light… and strive through my diligence in training and oblations to avoid following a false light that would lead me towards darkness.”

He finished, “The darkness wishes to divide us… but we are always stronger when we stand together. Those with purity of purpose have strength to never fall.”

[Doji Dojihime]

"If one hones to Bushido, and strives for purity of purpose than all deceptions will be revealed," she said in agreement.

[Kakita]

He nodded, “It is as you say. It is the life’s pursuit of the samurai to be ever ready for the moment when he must fulfill his duty.”

He bowed, “I am grateful we have been able to discuss these things openly.”

[Doji Dojihime]

"Once a bridge is built, it is easy to cross any obstruction," she responded lightly repeating her mother's wisdom.

[Kakita]

He looked to her and smiled softly, “You are your mother’s daughter.”

[Doji Dojihime]

"I would ask one more thing of you, if Hikaru-san has need of your aid, I pray you will assist him," she said calmly but seriously.

[Kakita]

He nodded, “Is there anything he stands in need of now?”

[Doji Dojihime]

He nodded, “Is there anything he stands in need of now?”

"As of this moment, I am unsure other than Hope," she responded.

"He is handling a most precious matter for me and my family."

[Kakita]

He nodded firmly, “I will support him in whatever way I can.”

[Doji Dojihime]

She bowed deeply to him and said, "Thank you, Kakita-sama."

He bowed one degree deeper and replied, “Thank you Doji-sama.”

"This one should give prayers and consider patience in her future actions, thank you for your time, Kakita-san," she said warmly.

"Surely her honored grandmother has some wisdom for her to consider."

[Kakita]

He nodded quietly and moved aside so she could approach the shrine.

He would watch her for a brief moment as she passed and then with a soft sigh would continue down the path back towards the castle.
