She nodded a little bit, "I recall such things was something Shinsei talked about, at one point or another. His concept of the Five Rings, including a Void that tied them all together and allowed mortals like ourselves to help fulfill our destinies..."

He nodded, “We are all connected. Like now… the water spans the distance between us and connects us; but the void is not so easily perceived.”

Another small nod... but a small smile crossed Misaki's lips.

"As with many spiritual things, I suppose. Would you consider yourself a very spiritual man then, Kakita-sama? Or is your world view something that might not be so easily categorized into a single mindset like that?"

He tilted his head, “I used to believe that the mundane and spiritual were separate… but the experiences I have passed through have taught me that the veil between the two is permeable to those who know the boundaries.”

He took some water in his hands and poured it out through his fingers, “To train the spirit is to train the body. And one the other… I’m not so sure one can divide the two.”

He smiled warmly at the conversation.

"The body... and perhaps the mind and heart as well?"

“They are all linked… Heart. Mind. Body. Each can reach where the others cannot. Together they create the rhythm of our beings.”

His breathing caused his chest to expand to just such a rhythm… sending tiny waves through the water towards Misaki before reverberating around her form in the water.

“It is almost like a song… a song which we all collectively dance to; whether we perceive it or not.”

"Hm. I have thought similar things. I have wondered if there isn't something to it that could be included in the teachings people receive. Not that there aren't places to learn philosophy and the arts of the world. But I feel like we're still carrying around a lot of the expectations of the tribal era, still emphasizing that importance and leadership comes from military might, diplomacy, and wealth. As opposed to creating a more well rounded class of people like the example the Kami have been giving, I feel."

She briefly chewed on her lower lip before shaking her head, "Apologies for that tangent; There is something about you that disarms me and drives me to be more extroverted with my thoughts and ideas than normal."

He nodded affirmatively, “I am glad to engender such openness. You have a mind worthy of sharing with others… I would never wish to repress the light in others.”

His features then took a more intent look, “What you say is true. There is… There are those who believe that the might they possess justifies their decisions towards the common people. A form of ‘I have the might… therefore I am right’. But this is not the way of the heavens. Might is to be deployed for right. Whether it be physical, mental or spiritual might… it should go for the benefit of others; for those who have not the might themselves.”

"Oh, well, that as well~ I certainly believe the Duty of those above is to look after those below and guide development for the good of all. To mirror the Heavens and reject the selfishness of the realm of evil."

She looked down and cleared her throat lightly, "I suppose I was more talking about what sort of person that would look like to me; Someone who is well rounded and knows about different things in order to be able to understand and sympathize with the duties and lives of others. As well as to be a paragon for people to look up to."

He smiled and chuckled charmingly, "That's a high standard. But it's not bad to have high standards."

"I suppose it is. Perhaps I just have high expectations for myself, and other samurai."

Sighing softly Misaki stretched her arms out in front of her with her eyes closed and a little yawn, "NNnnnnnnnyaf~ I think the water is starting to get to me, Kakita-sama, so I think I shall have to call it an evening with our conversation here. I am unsure why I am so tired, but I at least need to stretch and such."

"Have a wonderful evening. I too will be departing soon. It was lovely to get to know you. I hope we will have occasion to speak again." He offered a head-bow and then politely averted his gaze to a direction away from where Misaki would stand.

Standing and climbing out, she realized her hands wet now, so she picked up the prototype earmuffs in her towel instead and hurried with them to the changing room before she got too cold, due to her towel not being wrapped around her.
